FREE WRITING

Guidelines

1. Freewrites are due each month (excluding vacations):

· Due dates will be posted

· #1 due 9/30/08, #2 due 10/31/08, #3 due 12/10/08, #4 due 1/30/09,

#5 due 3/11/09, #6 due 4/30/09 (last one)

2. Length requirement will depend on format and will be determined prior to each piece

3. Must turn in final draft format only

· Typed in 1 ½ or double space

· 12 or 14 font size

· SIMPLE fonts only

· OR it may be written neatly in blue or black ink with margins

4. Original work only

· Plagiarism results in a zero and notification home

5. Your choice!

· You will choose the content, and I will provide the format

6. Free writing time is given on Fridays

7. Use class time wisely—your success is your responsibility!

8. Formats we MAY explore are:

· Basic essay *Poetry

· Survey/interview *Descriptive/experiential

· Details *Creative

· Mystery/horror *Play

· Fantasy *Comic book

· Newspaper *Autobiography/biography

9. The teacher reserves the right to change things as needed.
