GUIDELINES FOR Gr. 7 SCIENCE CLASS. NAME_________________
1.) Be prepared. Bring pen/pencil, book, homework, folder and notebook.
2.) After entering the room go directly to your seat. Do not touch any displays.
3.) Homework Counts!
* Save all science materials. Keep all completed work, notes, tests, quirks, labs,
and handouts in a folder which will be graded at the end of each quarter.
* All assignments must be handed in when due to receive full credit. The
parent/guardian should write a note to explain any extenuating circumstances.
* Late Homework:
- Work turned in after the start of class will start at 70% up
until the following day.
- Work turned in two days late will start at 50%.
- Missing Work not completed within 2 days will result in a 0 grade.
* One make-up day per day of excused absence will be allowed. Assignments sent
home for an absence will be due when the student returns.
* Some students who have special accommodations may have extra time.
4.) Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking.
5.) Damage due to improper behavior will be paid for by the person causing it.
6.) No one is allowed in the stockroom without permission.
7.) Use the minimum standards for written work:
A. HEADING: The student's name, the date, and group will appear in the upper
right- hand margin of each paper.
B. TITLE: A title will appear on each paper. Example: recheck and
explained, p.11
C. SPACING: Space between the title and between each answer.
D. MARGINS: Each paper will have at least one-inch margins and bottom
margin of at least two lines.
E. STRUCTURE: Answers will be written in COMPLETE SENTENCES.
Paragraphs will be indented, and sentences will be structurally
sound.
G. PAPER: Assignments should be completed on standard size, final-copy
paper.
H. REDO: If an assignment is not done following the minimum standards,
the student may be asked to do the assignment a second time.
8.) Show respect for everyone in the room.
9.) Inappropriate behavior will be handled within the Merit/Demerit system:
OFFENSE CONSEQUENCE
First Warning, no demerit
Second Demerit(s) specified for offense
Third Removal from class to the office and two or more demerits
Parental contact for demerits issued may be made by either of three methods:
1. The student should return the signed demerit slip the following day.
2. The teacher may contact home.
3. The demerit slip may be mailed home.
