Reading Novels Unit Overview

The reading classes have now started reading novels, as a part of our curriculum.  The Honors class is reading The Midwife's Apprentice by Karen Cushman and the regular sections are reading Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli. 

Below you will find the unit breakdown for each novel.  The unit breakdown will show how students are graded,  It well also help parents understand the assignments students will be completing  in and out of class.

These novel units will take approximately five weeks to complete.  Following these novels, the classes will move on to another book.

Your grade for this novel will be based on:

• Discussion Participation - counts as class work grade: 10%
• Portfolio - counts as a quiz grade: 30%
• Reading Logs (4) - counts as a quiz grade: 20%
• Points to Ponder Quizzes (4) -  counts as a homework grade: 30%
• Presentation Choices (2) - counts as a quiz grade: 30%
• Unit Test - counts as a test grade:40%

Your grade for this novel will be based on:
