Letter From Mrs. McKay
Dear Parents,
Hello! For those of you that do not know me, my name is Tracy McKay and I will be working very closely with your child this year both in the Resource Room and classroom. For those who know me from last year, hello and welcome to another school year.
I feel that I must inform you of a couple of things about my expectations of your child both in the classroom and in my room also. The following are expectations, guidelines and requirements that your child must do in order to have a productive and successful year.
Assignment Book:
I require each student I work with to maintain an assignment book. Each student has been issued one. My expectations area as follows:
1. Each and every day the student must write down the homework assignment. If there
happens to be no homework that day, they must write in the word "NONE".
2. Each day the student will have the teacher or Ed Tech initial the recorded assignment.
This ensures the student has the assignment written accurately.
3. Each evening, your child should show you their assignment book and have you write
your name or initials at the bottom of the page. This will let me know that you have
seen the assignment book and realize what your child has for homework. If they do
not show you, please ask to see it.
4. At the bottom of the column, there is ample room to jot down comments or ask
questions for me or any of your child's teachers.
Communication:
1. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE contact me the moment you have a question or concern.
Do not let things get to the point of no return. I am open to any and all forms if
communication.
a. Use the assignment book to write down questions or comments.
b. Call me. If I cannot come to the phone at that moment, leave a
message and I will get back to you that day.
c. e-mail me trmckay@sad64.k12.me.us
d. Stop by before or after school. My door is always open.
Other:
1. I am here as a teacher of Math, Language Arts or Reading as noted on your child's
IEP. I am here to make sure your child has support with their mainstream classes. I
am here to make sure class room/testing accommodations are implemented. I am not
here to do work for the student.
2. I have asked your child to report first thing in the morning to organization in the
cafeteria. This helps keep them organized and focused on the work at hand. I also
ask them to see me before guided study time. If your child is involved in band/chorus,
I still require them to check in before going. I want to make sure that they have their
assignments recorded and their materials in a folder.
If you do not want your child to participate in the assignment book expectations or organization, please send a note so I may have a record. If I do not receive a note from you, I will assume that you do want your child to participate in both. Again, I cannot stress enough that communication is the key! Feel free to contact me
By any of the above mentioned ways.
Sincerely,
Tracy R McKay
